New Blog (Again) →
Much as I kind of switched Tumblrs I also decided on a whim to switch blogs yet again. I managed to stick with the last one for more than a year so that’s quite an achievement! In the end I guess I’m just kind of fickle.  http://an-invinciblesummer.blogspot.com/ Follow and subscribe!

I Kind of Have a New Tumblr. →
It’ll likely be my main blog from now on and I just wanted to have a fresh start that is more in keeping with my major predisposition for serious-ness. I like the theme, but it does not have capitalization built in, which I find bizarre.

Chinese Editorials Assail a Government System →
Article on editorials in Chinese papers criticizing the hukou or household registration system. The lack of an urban hukou means that when migrant workers travel to the cities to obtain employment, they and the families they bring with them do not have access to public services.

My Friends are so Fantastic!
With today’s notifications, everyone in the immediate grad school route (alright, three people) is in at a program of choice! Yay!

Scheduled my first DC job interview. BOS —> IAD because it is supremely expensive to fly into Reagan straight from Boston (which I hadn’t realized earlier becuase of lacking familiarity with Kayak’s user interface). Here’s to hoping I don’t have to do this too many times!

Tragedy of Tragedies.
I’m on my last two packets of Trader Joe’s Jasmine Pearls Green Tea. DISASTER. Especially because I don’t think I’ve ever seen it at my local Trader Joe’s here (which happens to be on Newbury Street because I don’t drive or have a car).

Trying to decide if I should take myself on a one-day weekday trip to DC for an interview or not. (In really early in the morning from Boston Logan to Reagan National Airport in DC and out in the late evening.) It’s for a legal assistant position at a large law firm. for their 100+ attorney litigation group. I want that job, but ouch, my class schedule is a pain.

So Pissed Off.
I should have figured after Mike Bietz and Harvard Westlake neglected to pay me for judging the entire tournament (said extremely ritzy private school from socal still owes me $170) in my sophomore year that judging is really just not worth my time and effort. Still, I guess I never learn. I was committed for three rounds today and came out in a timely fashion, and then waited at the tournament...

What I suddenly have a compelling craving for/deeply desire for breakfast tomorrow: crepe-thin pancakes with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, the way one otherwise-mediocre chain of diner-like places near home makes them. Sadly, I’m quite far away from home. I might have to make do with whatever fruit crepe is the closest thing from the crepe place near Harvard Square. It had better not...

Oops, an hour later, my score cancellation form arrived at the location.

Oh FML.
I spent 15.90 on Express mailing my score cancellation form and it failed to deliver?! Probably has something to do with the recipient address being a P.O. Box (I know one can’t FEDEX or UPS their requests for that reason) but if that was going to be a problem they did not inform me of that while I was pulling out my credit card to pay 15.90 to mail a single piece of paper. Also, they could...

Ha. I Guess I Really, Really Hated Hong Kong at... →
I stopped posting about a week after I got there - before I even personally encountered the pest control problems that are part and parcel of life in Hong Kong -  and though I grew a lot more accustomed to life there after a few weeks, I was and am a lot more ambivalent about Hong Kong than most young people would be upon going there with sufficient (if not ample) funds and excessive...

whatestrogen: GoogleChrome is so amazing. If you haven’t tried it, you should! It’s so fast! Then you’ll waste about 10 minutes picking out the perfect browser theme. You’ve only just now tried Google Chrome? I’m using the Kate Spade theme :].

Cancelled my LSAT score. Retaking in June. In the grand scheme of things, it is unimportant but for the testing fee and the transportation costs associated with test day. However because I so thoroughly announced my intentions to destroy that thing to all and sundry I am a little bit embarrassed. Oh well. I’ll kind of miss taking it at BC School of Law because boy, do they have some ideal...

More LSAT Talk.
I’m reaching the point where I can definitely go in to the test on February 6th reasonably expecting the score I want to achieve. Of course, the process of studying is all-encompassing enough that I talk about little else and get irritable frequently on days that I’m running practice tests. I think everyone in my life will be pretty happy once I get this test done and buried.

A "Romantic" Now in Trouble Over an Airport Kiss. →
Via New York Times and Jezebel. A Chinese doctoral student has been apprehended after a five-day manhunt associated with last Sunday’s shutdown of Newark International due to said student going into the restricted area past the security checkpoint to kiss his girlfriend. Too many Asian dramas? (Or well, romantic comedies in general.) Anyway, in all seriousness, bad on the TSA for obviously...

Senior Problems.
I recently decided that I would like very much to minor in Economics instead of History (but only if I could also functionally complete my minor in History with the Chinese frontier experience class because hey, that topic has been my research interest for a good year and a half) except that next semester’s Wellesley schedule prevents this. There’s only one way to get it done, given...

whatestrogen: The next time someone asks me this question at Wellesley, I have the perfect answer to this. “Think of it this way: my sister is a PC and I’m a Mac.” My sister needed to borrow my Macbook otherwise known as my baby to edit a portion of her thesis, and proceeded to reveal just how Mac illiterate she really is. She couldn’t figure out the double finger scroll or that she could press...

Sigh.
I’m headed to Mexico in June on my first ever cruise with the family (a graduation present from my mom) and since I have grown in one particular… particular I’m going to need a new swimsuit, and would probably be well advised to invest in a tankini instead of a bikini because the latter would be a bit too much even if I get my abs in shape.

P: and the application fee was

will be
P: 1255 of it
and then the toal was 2547$ total
including tests,prep/mailing etc
me: OH LORDYYYYY
I could probably project
how much mine will cost
just averaging app fee x schools applied
plus errr
what I've technically already paid
buttt I do not want to
it would hurt

Forgive Me.
Our one conversations a year have a way of teaching me more than I ever thought I could learn about people I’ve cared about for so long in just a few short hours. Specifically because it used to take me so long to get over things, I guess it did take me two years and a half to truly be at peace, and maybe a little longer than that if my most recent momentary outburst is any indication. I...

To Do List for Wintersession.
It’s fairly modest, in truth, and should all be quite attainable by January 24th when I fly back out to the Boston. Study for the LSAT and hit a comfortable margin above 172, and preferably 175 at least by the week I leave. I’m ridiculously consistent across tests from prior to the double-passage era at least, so I’m hoping I don’t have to worry too much about...

At age 21:
mintgreenshellpink: jessicachu: Italian violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini had a dream in which he sold his soul to the Devil. The piece he wrote upon waking, the “Devil’s Sonata,” was the best he ever wrote, though far inferior to the one he heard in his dream. English chemist Humphry Davy discovered nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”), and suggested that it may have use as an anesthetic. ...

Merry Christmas!
In case it isn’t already obvious from my propensity for Christmas-y/winter-y indie-pop songs, I absolutely love the Christmas as an idea. It makes me quite sappy inside. Though my family is not too exciting in their traditions or even particularly celebration-prone around this time of year I still love spending the holiday in the bay with family :]. Merry Christmas all!

Back at Home!
The food is as good as I remember it being, but the shopping is much less exciting than I hoped for. Oh well, the former is more important than the latter! Settling down to do some LSAT studying. I had my first near-perfect logic games section performance today! Unfortunately, it was on a section from another test that I was using as my “experimental.”  Hopefully, I’ll also be...

Can't Sleep.
I haven’t been running this week because of finals, but it seems that I now have trouble sleeping whenever I go for too many days without some kind of lengthy cardio. As is usually the case, overly late hours increase my tendency for introspection (as well as my predisposition to oversharing). Around this time last year I told myself that it was time to finally exorcise my ghosts when it...
